Paper House Building


Paper House Building is an art activity which can be utilized as an individual art project if --- this activity is used in Arts, Humanities, and Crafts subject. This can also be done as a group dynamic activity especially on topics such as team building, resourcefulness, creativity, and leadership.

In this particular posts, paper house building is used as a group dynamic activity for the topic, teamwork.


Materials Needed: 

1. Any scrap paper materials such as old folders, old cartons, coupon bonds, old news papers or magazine, etc,
2. Any cutting materials (optional) such as scissors or cutters. However, cutting materials can be optional, paper tearing can be used to make the activity more difficult or exciting.
3. Any bonding materials such as glue, paste, scotch tape, stapler, pins, paper clips, etc.
4. Any coloring materials (optional) such as markers, crayons, paints, pens, etc.

Procedure: (Group Activity)
  1. Divide the class with around 3-6 members each.
  2. Distribute materials for the paper house building activity. You could also ask the groups to bring their materials. However, each group should have the same amount and preferably the same type of materials.
  3. Let the teams make and design their own paper house for approximately fifteen (15) minutes.
  4. After the activity, make a mini exhibit of the students' output.
  5. Judge the best paper house. (Teacher could also asks, other teachers or school staff to judge the output.)
Criteria for Judging of the Best Paper House: (100 points)
  • Aesthetic appeal - 40 pts.
  • Durability - 30 pts.
  • Creativity - 20 pts.
  • Speed - 10 pts.
